The receiver contains the ethernet MAC and PHY, but requires external magnetics (except for the BD940-INS receiver module, which includes Pulse Engineering HX1188 ethernet magnetics). The BD940 and BD940-INS PHY layer is based on the Micrel KSZ8091RNA. The BD990, BD992, BD992-INS PHY layer is based on the Micrel KSZ9031RNX. These are set to default to 100 Mbps, full duplex with auto-negotiation enabled. The PHY layer is based on the Micrel KSZ8041NLI; it is set to default to 100 Mbps, full duplex with auto-negotiation enabled.

Since ethernet functionality typically increases the receiver power consumption by approximately 10%, the BD940 receiver module, the BD940-INS receiver module and the BX940 receiver enclosure shuts down the ethernet controller if no ethernet devices are connected within two minutes. You can disable this setting in the Network Configuration / Ethernet Configuration menu.
