The system uses a Texas Instruments DP83822IRHBR Ethernet PHY to achieve full-duplex 10/100BT. The CPU communicates to the PHY using the RMII interface. The reference clock is a 50 MHz RF clock that is generated from Polaris. This PHY does not have built-in terminations, so there are external discrete termination components on board. Ethernet magnetics are not integrated onto the PCB, so they must reside off-board and must have a center tap pin that is connected to the VOUT pin of the 28-pin connector.
